Brain Gym® is the fundamental program of Educational Kinesiology, the study of movement and its relationship to learning. It is a program of easy physical movement that synchronize body and mind to optimize how we learn and perform in all areas of our lives.
The initial program was developed by Dr. Paul Dennison and Gail Dennison in the 1980’s and is now taught in 80 countries and has been translated into 50 languages.
Brain Gym is presented though the three dimensions of development of the brain. Educational Kinesiology is related to the perceptual development of children through reflexes, visual acuity and midline movement exercises.
Educational Kinesiology (Brain Gym) is a readiness program that integrates the ability to do contralateral movement across the midline in three different dimensions of brain function. There are twenty -six exercises that are directly related to the integration of the reflexes and help to develop core awareness, better visual acuity and eye hand coordination.
Developmental experts have known for more than 80 years that physical movement activates the brain and enhances learning. My doctoral research with teachers and students the results showed that as students were able to do the midline movements physically, their behavior and ability to focus on their work increased simultaneously.
